Tengboche is the spiritual center of the Khumbu, its monastery set on a ridge at 3,867 m with Ama Dablam and Everest as a backdrop. The Mani Rimdu festival each autumn draws masked-dance crowds. Most EBC trekkers pause here for the views and the morning prayers.
