Khaptad National Park
A rolling meadow plateau and ashram pilgrimage in Nepal's quiet far west.
SudurpaschimSudurpaschim Province
Khaptad is a rolling plateau of open meadows and oak and rhododendron forest spread across four far-western districts, protected as Khaptad National Park. It is as much a pilgrimage as a wilderness: the ashram of the revered Khaptad Baba and the Tribeni shrine draw devotees, while the grasslands draw the few trekkers who make it this far west. It offers some of the emptiest, gentlest high country in Nepal.
