What is the Devanagari script?
Devanagari is the script used to write Nepali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, and several other South Asian languages. It has 33 consonants and 11 vowels and is phonetic — once you learn the symbols, you can sound out any word. The horizontal line on top is its distinctive visual mark.
