Do I need a guide for Everest Base Camp?
Since 2023, Nepal requires a government-licensed guide for trekking in national parks including Sagarmatha (Everest region). Enforcement is uneven — many solo trekkers still complete the trek — but at Namche checkpoint you can be retroactively required to hire one.
